The past month has flown by!

I can't believe that my last posting was over a month ago.  A lot has gone on over the past few weeks.  I created this precious tote bag for a little boy's birthday gift.
I also made a beach bag for another customer.  It turned out so great!  I will upload the pictures soon and get the bag listed on Etsy.  Because of that bag, I got another order for three more beach bags.  They will be bridesmaid gifts for a wedding coming up next month.  I can't wait to pull together the different fun/bright fabric combos for those special gifts.

Another order I finished up is for a new big sister.  A friend of mine wanted something special for the new baby's big sister, so I whipped up a bright cheery bag.  The main fabric is bright pink pique with a striped pink, green, white fabric lining and contrasting bottom.  I added white rick rack trim for accent and it turned out exactly how I envisioned it.

For the new baby I made a super soft minky dot & satin blanket.  The blanket is pink minky dot embroidered with the new baby's monogram.  The reverse is a chocolate satin with pink polka dots.  I added a satin trim ruffle going all the way around.  Definitely my favorite blanket to date.

A few other projects I have completed:  a monogrammed/appliqued onesie for a baby girl and one for a little baby boy, another blanket, a few burp cloths, and a monogrammed Easter dress.

Check back soon for pictures of these fun products.

More Etsy Listings are Soon to Come

So last night I sat down with my wonderful husband and had him help me set up the photography studio for a product shoot.  He's quite a talented photographer and web designer, so I'm happy to leverage his skills.

We took pictures of 3 bags, 1 onesie, and a bunch of burp cloths.  He's kind enough to edit the pictures and get them ready for me for posting.  Watch my etsy site over the next few days to see the listings come on up.  I am so excited to start sharing all my creations!

It's time to open shop

After years of sewing and crafting, I have decided to take the plunge and start selling the goods that I create.  Over the past several weeks, I have been embroidering, cutting, washing, and sewing some fabulous new products.  I have been brainstorming like a crazy fool and finally came up with my store's name - Flutterbug Designs.  It's a little whimsical, much like the precious children's products that I create.  Last week I set up my Etsy shop, signed up for an email address (although temporary until I get my actual website up and running with its own email/domain names), and sketched out a quick logo.  I have also engaged a much more able person to create the official logo and banner.

Here's the shop's info:
Name - Flutterbug Designs
Etsy - http://www.etsy.com/shop/FlutterbugDesignshop
Email - flutterbugdesignshop@gmail.com
Facebook - Just search for Flutterbug Designs

This morning was a huge step for me - I posted my first item on Etsy!  After only 25 minutes, I had over 10 views - not a ton, but way more than I expected considering the really poor quality of the pictures and that I only have one item up so far.  The first listing is for a lovey blanket.  One of my favorite items that I have created so far.  I made it for a friend of a friend and absolutely love it.  It is black minkey fabric with green, light pink and dark pink polka dots.  The back is green satin embroidered with the little girl's sweet name.  The trim is a ruffled grosgrain ribbon trim.  The textures are awesome and it is the perfect size to cart all over the place - about 18-19" square including the trim.

Other products that I'm getting ready to post are another lovey (20" square - brown satin with pink polka dots, brown satin ruffle trim, and pink dot minkey fabric), contoured burp cloths, a diaper bag, a tote bag, and an appliqued/embroidered onesie. Next step - bust out the good camera and lighting and take some real pictures of these products.  Then, get my sweet husband to help me edit the pics so that I can look professional!

Other next steps - set up URL and true company email, register company, get enough Facebook fans to have an actual easy link for people (25 fans needed), order labels, order business cards, make more goods, take more pictures, sell some stuff!

I know it will be slow going at first to get my name out there and get the shop launched.  I do hope it makes it - I love all the products I have done so far and look forward to sharing them with others.  Stay tuned for more information and more listings to come.
